981 Festival 2007.
Seven hours of music, 14 artists and four stages at Playaclub, in my home city.
The 981 Festival, presented by SON Estrella Galicia, took place on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at the Complejo Playaclub in A Coruña. It was part of the 2007 SON Estrella Galicia music agenda. The doors opened at 11:30 PM, and the poster promised seven hours of non stop music, 14 artists and four stages.
The bill was very international. Damian Lazarus, Andrew Weatherall, Alex Gopher and Justin Robertson shared the night with live sets from Aril Brikha and Ascii Disko, plus DJ sets from Belle & Sebastian and The Subs. Jef K, DJ Grobas and Mc Perez completed the list, with visuals by VJ The End and Främe.
I played that night, and seeing my name on the same poster as artists I had followed for years was a proud moment, especially in my own city. Tickets were 18 euros in advance and 21 at the door. A combined ticket with dinner and the VIP zone cost 55 euros, and they were on sale at Fnac, Portobello and Nonis. For a night in A Coruña, it was a serious line up, with the sound of London, Paris, Stockholm and Glasgow all on the same floor.
