Sing Sing Theater.
My home room in Bangkok.
The first time I walked into Sing Sing Theater, it was love at first sight. I remember standing there for a moment, just looking. The design of the club, the way the room is built, the lights, the sound system, the music and the performances on stage. Everything felt like it had been made with real care, and I knew right away that I wanted to belong to this place.
I did not get here overnight. I worked for a long time to earn a monthly residency at Sing Sing. For years I went a couple of times a week, not to play but to listen. I came to hear the local DJs and the international ones, to learn the room, to feel how the crowd moves and how the night breathes. I was a guest on the dance floor long before I was ever behind the decks, and I would not change that for anything.
Little by little, something beautiful happened. I earned the trust of the whole team. Not just one person, but everyone. The door, the security, the management, the bartenders, the cleaning staff and the people at the cloakroom. I learned their names and they learned mine. Today I do not feel like a visitor who plays there. I identify with them. I feel part of the family.
That is what makes Sing Sing different. Every time I arrive, the door team receives me with a smile. The security guys greet me like an old friend. The bartenders know how my night usually starts, and the staff who keep the place spotless and look after the coats always have a kind word. It is their home, and every time they open the door for me, they make me feel that it is also mine.
As a DJ, you spend your life moving from room to room. You learn to be a guest, to adapt, to say thank you and to leave. Very few places make you feel that you are coming back. Sing Sing does. When I step into the booth, I carry all of those years of listening, waiting and learning with me, and I try to give back the same warmth they have always given me.
I have had unforgettable nights here. I opened for artists I admire, I played long sets from open to close and I shared the floor with people who danced as if nothing else existed. Those nights are the reason I do this. A great room, a great team and a crowd that gives everything, all in the same place and at the same time.
I think about the version of me who stood at the back of the room, a couple of nights every week, hoping that one day he would be on that stage. I would like to say thank you to him for being patient. And I would like to say thank you to the whole Sing Sing family for opening the door and letting me in.
Below you can see a few moments from my sets at Sing Sing Theater. If you are in Bangkok, come and dance with us. The door will be open, and someone will be there to welcome you with a smile.
